Volunteering at Bure Valley Railway

Looking for a rewarding way to get involved in your community? Volunteering at Bure Valley Railway is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of Norfolk’s most popular heritage attractions.

The railway is run on a not-for-profit basis, with every penny reinvested to preserve and improve our trains, stations, and facilities. At the heart of it all are our amazing volunteers, who work alongside a small team of paid staff to keep the railway running and ensure it continues to be enjoyed by generations to come.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Becoming a Bure Valley Railway volunteer is a fantastic way to:

  • Get involved in community volunteering in Norfolk

  • Meet new people and make lasting friendships

  • Learn new skills, from railway operations to customer service

  • Support the preservation of a heritage steam railway

  • Be part of one of Norfolk’s top tourist attractions

Share Your Time, Skills and Passion

Our volunteers are friendly, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. With a wide range of roles available, both railway-related and non-railway roles, there’s something for everyone, from working on the locomotives and track to helping in the café and shop.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, aged 18 and over. Whether you can give just a few hours now and then or commit more regularly, your time, energy, and unique skills will always be valued and appreciated.
