Coaches
Bure Valley Railway Coaches
The Bure Valley Railway operates a fleet of 26 purpose-built coaches, designed to give passengers a safe and comfortable journey through the Norfolk countryside. All coaches are fully enclosed with upholstered seating, electric lighting and heating during the winter months, allowing you to enjoy the railway regardless of the season.
Passenger Coaches
There are 19 twin-bogie carriages, each with five bays that seat four passengers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, clear partitions were installed between compartments and alternate bays were taken out of use, helping us maintain safe travel for all visitors.
Special Coaches
Coach 20 is a standard coach adapted with a guard’s compartment, two open compartments (seating four passengers each), and a parcels section. Coach 40/41 and 23 – Electric Train Heating Carriages, each fitted with a 35 KVA diesel generator, plus guard’s and parcels compartments. These supply electricity for train heating during our winter services.
Wheelchair Accessibility
We are proud to have six wheelchair accessible coaches, specially designed and built for the railway. These make it possible for wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users to travel together, ensuring everyone can share the experience of a steam train journey.
